What DotMD is for.The documents your agents write, and who reads them.

AI agents write specs, plans, design docs, PRDs and READMEs in minutes. Someone still has to get them right. Pick the way you work and see how DotMD fits.

macOS 14 or later. Reading is free; DotMD Pro has a 3-day free trial.

Quick answer

DotMD is for anyone who asks an AI agent to write a document and then has to get it right: specs, plans, design docs, PRDs, READMEs. You comment on passages, the agent fixes them, and you accept each change in the file.

Pick your case

The same loop every time: the agent writes, you comment, the agent fixes, you accept.

Questions before you start

Why not just review in the chat?

In a chat you quote a paragraph, the agent rewrites half the file, and you can't tell what changed. In DotMD a comment is tied to the passage, the fix shows as a diff next to it, and every version of the file is kept. It's a code review, for a document.

Which agents work with DotMD?

Any MCP client: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code and others. One URL, http://127.0.0.1:8089/mcp, in the agent's MCP settings. DotMD's guide has the exact line for each.

Where are my files and comments?

Your Markdown files stay where they are on disk; DotMD edits them in place and never copies them anywhere. Comments and version history live in DotMD's own storage in your user Library. Nothing is uploaded.

App Store or direct download?

Same app, same price, same Pro. The direct version updates itself; the App Store version updates through the App Store. A purchase from either works in both.
